Meet Our Executive Board


Houston roberts, President

Houston Roberts is the current President of the Young Democrats of Missouri, elected in the Spring of 2017 for the current term ending in 2019. He has been involved with politics since he interned on Senator Claire McCaskill's reelection campaign in 2012, an opportunity that inspired him to advance the cause of young people in the Democratic Party. In his free time Houston enjoys reading books on Missouri history, and community volunteering. 

Fun fact: Houston's favorite President is Martin Van Buren and he has a collection of Nixon campaign memorabilia.



Jimmy Loomis, Vice President

Jimmy Loomis currently serves as Treasurer of the St. Louis County Democratic Central Committee. Loomis, 22, has been deeply involved in Missouri Democratic politics since a young age, and holds the title of Missouri’s youngest elected official, a distinction earned after his appointment as Democratic Committeeman at age 18. Jimmy is a native St. Louisian, and decided to stay there to attend Washington University, where graduated with a degree in Political Science and Mandarin Chinese. During his time as WashU. , he served as President of the College Democrats from 2014-2016. In this role, he was responsible for Presidential Debate-related programming and public affairs management. He is an active life member in the St. Louis County NAACP, and is honored to serve as General Chairman for the 81st Annual Freedom Fund Dinner.



Chade Shorten, Secretary

Chade Shorten is a senior at Truman State University, majoring in Communication and Political Science. She has worked in Reno, Nevada for the Clinton-Kaine campaign and has interned both in Jefferson City with Gail McCann Beatty, the Missouri House Minority Leader, and in Washington, D.C. with Senator Claire McCaskill. When Chade isn’t checking Twitter she likes to spend time flying, bartending and hanging out with her parents in rural Missouri. 


Taylor Thompson, Communication

Taylor is a 1L student at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. Before attending law school, Taylor worked in the Missouri House of Representatives as both an intern for then-Minority Floor Leader Jacob Hummel and a Legislative Aide for Representative Donna Baringer. During the 2016 cycle, Taylor worked in Las Vegas with the Clinton campaign and Nevada State Democratic Party. A graduate of Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri, he has his degree in Communication. Taylor was born and raised in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and he's proud to be a lifelong resident of the Show-Me-State.

When not studying in the library, Taylor enjoys karaoke around Kansas City and Golden Girls reruns.


Kaitlyn burke, Committee Woman


Kaitlyn Burke is from the Arnold/Imperial area and currently attends Truman State University, where she will graduate in December 2017 with her BS in Political Science. Kaitlyn has worked as a finance staffer for the Koster for Missouri campaign and has interned both as a legislative and policy intern in the Missouri Senate for Senator Jill Schupp, and as a campaign and field intern for NARAL Pro-Choice America. In her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys reading, trying out new Pinterest recipes, and *poorly* playing her ukulele.
